Bento #172 - Fried Mee Tai Bak

Rayson polished off his Mee Tai Bak today and feedbacked that it was nice so I thought I should write down the recipe even though it is such simple dish.

Recipe for Fried Mee Tai Bak

Serving 2 adults (not very big eaters) or 1 adult and 1 kid
Ingredients
  • 300g of Mee Tai Bak
  • 200g of lean meat cut into thin slices
  • 100 g of fish cake cut into slices
  • 6 prawns (can put more if you like but my hubby is a bit allergic to prawns)
  • 4 mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 cloves of garlic diced
  • Some green leafy vegetables
Seasonings
  • 2 tbsp of light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp of dark soy sauce (mainly for the color, my thick dark soy sauce isn't really salty)
Bonus
  • Oil from frying shallots or ginger (getting lazy nowadays to peel the shallots..=P)
Method
  • Boil a small pot of water, when the water is boiling, put the sliced lean meat and prawns in. Use a pair of chopsticks to separate the sliced meat so that they do not clump together. If the meat is sliced thinly, it will be cooked in a short time, maybe 2-3 min. When the meat and prawns are cooked, take them out and keep the water (A).
  • Add some oil into your pan and fry the garlic till fragrant.
  • Add in the fish cake, Mee Tai Bak, mushrooms and lastly the green vegetables. Add half a bowl of water from (A) into the pan. *Depends on your preference if you want more sauce or prefer your Mee Tai Bak to be drier. If you want more sauce, just add more water from (A).
  • Close the lid until you see steam coming out
  • Open the lid, add in the cooked lean meat and prawns and seasonings and stir fry the Mee Tai Bak so that it is evenly coated with the seasonings
  • You can drizzle some fried shallot oil or fried ginger oil to enhance the overall taste.

Enjoy!

Wanted to add a cute element that's why the egg but I think I have failed so I shan't talk about it...haaaaa...
